Not So Epic 2015

The Youtube video "Epic 2015" was made in about 2007 and basically covered what had happened with technology particularly things that had to do with the internet, and then went and ventured into what they assume was going to happen from 2007 to 2015 and let's just say Marty Mcfly's future was a lot more accurate.

Everything that was discussed up until 2007 was actually factual, and therefore I don't feel the need to list all of the things that it stated prior to 2007 but I'm about to list what if anything the video got correct after 2007 and what they were very far off on.

Didn't Happen:
  • Google Grid
  • Newsbotster was never bought by MSN
  • Googlezon, I mean that isn't even fathomable.
  • Newswars...
  • Still Googlezon, it's just really bad.
  • New York Times going with paid subscriptions
  • New York Times suing Googlezon
  • New York Times goes offline, becomes print only newsletter.
  • Epic never happened.
Kind of Right:
  • Pinky from New York Times, broadcasts from the GPS location to share with their friends.
The video was very far off on most of the things they predicted and the only one I found to be even remotely close was the broadcasts that Pinky invented, which to me kind of resembles Snapchat in a way and also Waze in other ways talking about the accidents in the neighborhood.

So...how about that HTML?

Well, in the midst of me watching this Sunday Night Football game, I decided to try my hand at making this HTML webpage for class. Basically what I know about HTML creation is very small and miniscule but what I also know is that it was pretty fun! I won't lie it was a pretty awesome feeling to find out that my first try that it actually worked. Obviously once I got it up and got a look at it I adjusted a few things in the code to get it to where I like it. It's a simple page yes but I feel like being able to make one at all was a good feeling and I'm excited to learn more about getting more experimental with it. Now about the page itself, it basically covers my feelings towards this Sunday Night game between my Colts and the ever so hated Patriots. Just when I thought we were actually going to take charge, we run one of the worst plays that I have ever seen in my entire life. For those who want to see a visual representation of how I felt watching it and then watching it again several other times, please by all means visit my webpage.

Here is the link for your convenience: file:///C:/Users/Leif/School/Fall%202015/Virtual%20World/testfile5.html

P.S.

Make sure that you copy all the way from the three slashes until the end, and then right click in the url box and select "Paste and Go" should take you right to the page.

Also again, may I add onto this post. The Colts actually looked like they have what it takes to compete against the Patriots!! No moral victories in my book but progress has been shown, that's what I know.

Email and Postal Serivce, Similarities and Differences

This will be a brief explanation of the comparison of email and the postal service. Frankly I think the postal service should be eliminated and it should all be privatized but hey that's just me.

Similarities:

  • Both need an address to get to where they are going.
  • Both go through a postal service in some degree.
  • Both have a mailbox.
  • Both have to stop along the way at several different destinations.
  • Both include a sorting system that determine where the next stop will be.
  • There all laws in which both systems have to follow.
  • Both get solicited by advertisements

Differences:

  • Email is electronic, while postal is a physical letter/package.
  • You can't send things like a package through email, but you can through postal.
  • Email addresses aren't a physical location while a postal address is
  • A postal address can be a little off but an email address has to be exactly precise.
  • Email doesn't need stamps and is pretty much free.
  • Postal mail can take several days or weeks or even months.
  • Email is almost instant.
